Service Description

Please Note: Extra-long dreadlocks, extra $150 There are several distinct styles of locs, each with its own features, formation techniques, and care requirements. Main Types of Locs: Traditional Locs (Classic Dreadlocks) Rope-like strands created by matting or braiding hair. Maintained by palm rolling or twisting. Considered a permanent style, with thickness varying by preference. Freeform Locs: Form naturally with minimal manipulation, allowing hair to mat and knot on its own. Results in locs of different sizes and shapes, highlighting the hair’s natural texture. Semi-Freeform Locs A blend of freeform and maintained locs. Minimal manipulation is used, but some shaping or parting helps control the overall look. Sister Locks: Tiny, uniform locs that resemble loose hair strands. Created using a precise interlocking method with a specialised tool. Lightweight, versatile, and typically installed by certified professionals. Micro Locs: Similar in appearance to Sister Lock but can be installed using various techniques (twisting, braiding, interlocking). Slightly larger than Sister Lock and do not require a certified consultant. Faux Locs: A temporary style using synthetic or natural hair extensions. Mimic the appearance of locs without the long-term commitment. Includes variations such as soft locs, butterfly locs, and goddess locs. Methods to Start Locs: Comb Coil Locs: Formed by twisting small sections of hair with a comb, resulting in cylindrical locs about pencil sized. Twisted/Braided Locs Begin with twisting or braiding hair sections; the pattern is visible until the hair fully mats. Palm Rolled Locs Created by rolling hair between the palms to shape and compress the locs, producing a smooth, cylindrical appearance. Interlocked Locs Made by weaving hair with a latch hook or crochet tool, resulting in very uniform locs. Retighten roots every 6–8 weeks to keep them secure. Specialty and Styled Locs: Butterfly Locs: Faux locs with small loops along the strand, giving a “butterfly wing” effect. Butterfly Locs: Faux locs with curly or wavy hair left out at the ends, creating a bohemian look. Other Styles: Basket weave locs, chunky locs, ombre locs, locs with fade, and cornrowed locs, which introduce different textures, colours, or structures to the basic loc form. Each type of loc offers a unique aesthetic and maintenance routine, allowing for a wide range.
